Get a Tailor

if you have accepted the fact that you are short the next thing to happen will be this: you are gonna realize that there's very little stuff made for your exact height. I am a 33/28 in pants and i never find anybody making pants that size, at least here in Miami. So, what do i do? Tailor my pants.

Some stores will offer to hem the pants but if I'm buying

a suit, the jacket sleeves will also be too long and not every store does that. So I just prefer to take the whole thing down to my tailor. This way i make sure that the suit will fit me like it should.

Everybody has a different build and mass produced clothes are made following certain standards; that is why a suit will not fit everybody the same way. Some are broader in the shoulders (like me), some are thin, etc; so to ensure that your clothes fit perfectly find yourself a tailor.

Finding a tailor is not as easy as finding somebody that knows how to alter clothes, is just as complex as to find a tattoo artist: you need to feel comfortable and confident in his expertise, after all you are putting your clothes on his hands to cut and sew at will and if he makes a mistake, well…too bad.

So take your time looking for a tailor and once you find him try to build a relationship with him. Italians for example are as close to their tailors than to their mothers, ergo, they are always sharply dressed.

Also, those models you see in the ads? Everything they're wearing has also been tailored, so don't think that if you look like a model everything will look perfect on you.

So go ahead and Google within your area for a tailor or ask around if you have any sharp dressed friends.

Live and Miami and can't find a good tailor? Try mine!
